Friday, November 1, the Warren varsity football team defeated the Woodville Eagles.
To begin the first quarter, Woodville received the ball. The Warriors defense held strong and took over control of the ball at the 45 yard line. The Warriors received a first down at the 41 yard line. Chance McGallion ran the ball to the 34 yard line. Warren then faced a fourth down but Kyle Hathaway threw a pass to for a first down. McGallion rushed the ball to the nine yard line and again to the four yard line. The Warriors scored the first touchdown of the night and the point after kick by Connor Fry was good. Warren now lead 7-0.
In the second quarter the Warriors defense again held strong. Woodville had fourth down and goal and the Warriors held the Eagles and took control of the ball at the ten yard line. Parker Lambright ran the ball to the 18 yard line for the Warriors first down. Warren was not able to continue to advance the ball any further and Fry punted the ball to the 35 yard line. Woodville scored their first touchdown and lowered the lead to 7-6. Ty Choate ran the kick off for the Warriors. The Warriors received a first down at the 46 yard line and McGallion ran the ball to the 35 yard line earning another first down.
The Warriors faced their fourth down but were not able to receive a first down. Woodville now had control of the ball and although Warren played tough defense, the Eagles scored. At the end of the first half Woodville led 12-7. For the third quarter Warren received the ball. Choate ran the kick off to the 50 yard line. McGallion ran the ball to the 36 yard line earning a first down for the Warriors. Lambright then ran the ball 36 yards for a touchdown. The point after kick by Fry was good and Warren regained the lead 14-12.
The Warriors defense continued to play excellent defense as Hathaway tackled the Eagles at the 20 yard line and then sacked the Woodville quarterback. Warren held Woodville at the 36 yard line. Woodville intercepted a Warrior pass but the Warriors defense once again held the Eagles and forced Woodville to punt the ball away. Hathaway rushed the ball 14 yards for the Warriors and earned a first down. Lambright ran the ball to the 14 yard line. The Warriors were not able to advance the ball much further and Fry made a field goal making the score 17-12. The Warriors defense excelled again as they held the Eagles and took control of the ball at the 49 yard line. McGallion ran the ball to the six yard line and again ran the ball for a touchdown. The Warriors two point conversion attempt was good and the Warriors now lead 25-12. The Warriors defense once again held the Eagles and Warren took control of the ball at the 32 yard line. Warren let the clock run out and defeated the Eagles 25-12.
The varsity football team will play their last game of the season on Friday, November 8, at Kirbyville.
The Lady Warriors basketball team will play Legacy on Friday, November 8 at 5 p.m. and Big Sandy on Tuesday, November 12 at 5 p.m.
