Woodville United Methodist Church hosted St. Mark's Methodist Church of Baytown, which sponsors "Big House Texas," a camp for participants from all over Texas who have completed 6th through 8th grades. Under the direction of Mr. Bob Pickering of St. Mark's Methodist Church, participants painted Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29, at Christine's Place Women's and Children's Shelter Resale Shop of Family Services of Southeast Texas. They graciously furnished paint and labor. Thanks to Fred Sullivan of Sullivan's Ace Hardware for donating the trim paint. The purple trim color is the color that represents domestic violence awareness. "We are grateful for all of the hard work and time spent by these dedicated individuals: Mr. Bob Pickering; Mr. Jim Richards; Mr. Mel Stone of Baytown; Mr. Clay Hart of Woodville; Ms. Amanda Boyd, Youth Director of Woodville UMC; and all of the young people who dedicated part of their summer to serve others."
