VFW donates $150 to "The Nutrition Craft Club"—Cmdr. Robert Brandin presents a check for $150 to Frankie Kindle on behalf of Robert M. Pate Post 2033, Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary. The money will assist the ladies in buying supplies for free pillows that are given at Houston's V.A. Hospital. Also present for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary were Priscilla Hale, Jo Ann Price and Elsie Stewart. Quartermaster/Adjutant James Hale also attended. The Club, which formed in 2006, has made over 2,000 abdominal pillows for veterans coming out of heart surgery and other procedures. The ladies gather each Friday morning at the Nutrition Center in Woodville to stuff the pillows. The pre-cutting of fabric and the down stuffing is donated by the ladies from United Methodist Church of Woodville.
Toast to Texas—Tyler County Judge Jacques Blanchette presents a Toast to Texas during last Friday's event at Heritage Village Museum. The Annual event drew a fine crowd to celebrate Texas Independence Day, which was March 2. You can read the whole story in Sandy Taylor's column on pg. 3A of this issue, and check out a gallery of photos from the event on the Tyler County Booster website.
