Local Election Results - 2012

Regardless of which side of the political aisle you stand, the importance of the Presidential campaign has been a major focus with the economic challenges facing the country. On November 6, voters made their decision and re-elected President Barack Obama to another four years. At press time, Obama held 303 Electoral votes to Mitt Romney's 206.

Voters in Tyler County voted overwhelming Republic in the Presidential race, with 5,899 for Romney and 1,659 for Obama.

There were also a number of contested races in Tyler County.

In the Constable, Precinct 45 Constable race, Jim Zachary bet Anthony Ross 1,212 to 461.

There were several races in Ivanhoe city elections.

In the Mayoral race, Jack Brockhouse won the vote over challenger Cathy Bennett 309 to 239.

Tom Welch and David Baier, with 267 and 245 votes respectively, won the two Ivanhoe Council Member at large seats over Karen Sikora with 207 votes and Chuck Vonderlin with 195.

Two propositions were on the ballet in Ivanhoe. City of Ivanhoe Sales Tax was approved 282 to 270. The Local Option (Alcohol sales) was approved 358 to 205.

The City of Colmesneil had At-Large council seats up for grabs, the top three were winners. Bubba Sheffield polled 147 votes, Chuck Polito 41 votes, Kenneth Davis 76 votes and Rhonda Harris 91 votes.

Rocky Burks with 1,269 votes defeated Barry W. Johnson with 547 votes for the Position 4 Warren ISD Trustee spot. In the Position 5 race, Marty Ramer defeated Rene Gutierrez with votes of 1,205 to 503.

Spurger had four school board positions up for election, only one was contested. In the Position 4 race, Paul Bingham defeated Marisa "Rocky" Cloesssner 470 to 175.

All voting results are unofficial until provisional votes are checked and votes are canvassed.
