Roschelle Springfield, a member of the Rotary Club of Woodville, was selected in August, 2011, by the district interview committee to be the team leader from a slate of seven applicants. She will accompany the team of four young professionals between the ages of twenty-five and forty years of age. The program will include cultural, educational, and vocational experiences that are intended to provide professional development for the careers of the individual team members.

The team participants were selected in October, 2011, from a slate of twenty-two applicants who were interviewed by a committee of nine District Rotary leaders. The team members chosen are Reagan Ivey of Woodville, Suzy Spencer of Friendswood, Cortney Tenhet of College Station, and Tracie Brown of Lufkin. Consequently, all four of these young women happen to be graduates of Texas A&M University.

While being hosted by Rotary District 2100 in Italy in the regions of Campagna and Calabria, the team will stay in the homes of Rotarians for a full immersion into the Italian culture. The team has met in monthly training sessions in preparation for the trip. They have produced a video presentation that will share Texas and the USA with the Italian Rotary Clubs as well as a brochure to distribute. They will be touring Naples and the Amalfi Coast for the month of May.

An Italian counterpart team of five from Rotary District 2100 in Italy arrived in Texas on April 10, and will be in District 5910 until May 7, 2012. The Rotary Group Study Exchange Program is sponsored by Rotary International.
