Thomas Richard McGuire, 72, of Colmesneil is out on bond after being arrested February 1 for sexual assault of a child under age 18.
According to Tyler County Chief Deputy Trisher Ford, a witness came forward with information about inappropriate behavior between McGuire and a male victim. Upon further investigation, officers found sufficient evidence to request an arrest warrant.
"The warrant was issued by Judge Steven Sturrock on January 30," Ford said. "A victim testified to being assaulted by McGuire on numerous occasions during the past year."
McGuire is a former Tyler County business owner, working 30 plus years as an insurance salesman. He is also known for teaching golf to teenage boys in Tyler County over the years, and participating as a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America.
Bond was set at $50,000 by Judge Sturrock. After posting bail, McGuire relocated to Georgetown and is awaiting trial.
