The Woodville Middle School cheerleaders attended cheer camp during the week of June 23-27. The 2014 WMS cheerleaders are Hallee Hughes, Hope Tantzen, Taylan Cook, Douglas Dinger, Alexis White, Keyonna Paire, Madison Lane, Shayla Williams, Camber Castellanos, Zoey Hart, Brooke Lacox, Allie Jarrott, Trista Mitchell, Kayla Merchant, Abby Wilson, and Reagan Smith. The cheerleading squad will be led again by seventh grade English teacher Amee Scarberry.
This week was extremely important because there were ten new members to the cheer squad. The camp was put on by the Universal Cheerleaders Association instructors. During the camp, the girls learned new cheers and stunts that will be displayed during pep rallies and football games.
The camp week was completed with a parent show off, along with a slumber party. The girls were given a superior rating trophy based on team performance. Hallee Hughes, Brooke Lacox and Madison Lane each received All-American honors by the UCA.
Scarberry noted, "This is going to be an awesome year. My girls are really enthusiastic and full of school spirit."
Woodville Middle School's first football game and pep rally is scheduled for September 18, as they host the Deweyville Pirates.
