Two Woodville athletes and a coach were honored by the Beaumont Enterprise last week and received area-wide recognition in their sports.

Ashton Weatherford and Morgan Poncho both were selected as Super Gold First Team for Softball after the team's recent journey to the state championship.

Weatherford, a junior from Woodville ISD, received Super Gold for Infield. She batted a .382 with 5 HR, 29 RBI while starting at both shortstop and outfield for the Lady Eagles. She also received First Team All District.

Poncho, a sophomore from Woodville ISD, received Super Gold for Utility. She posted a 10-1 record with a .038 ERA and 67 K's on the mound. She also was selected as a First Team All District Pitcher.

Coach Mixon, the Woodville Lady Eagles Softball Coach, also received a distinguished title as Coach of the Year. In his first season with the Lady Eagles, Mixon guided the team to a 29-6 overall record and a spot in the regional semifinals.

Mixon faced several challenges during the softball season, including injuries and broken spirits, but was able to guide the team to the regional semifinals where they fell to Salado.

Poncho, Weatherford and Mixon were all invited to a Beaumont ceremony were they received their title and trophies last week.
