The Spurger Lady Pirates participated in the Xcel Spring League Volleyball Tournament for the month of May, as well as played in the final tournament on June 2 and 3.
Not only did the girls gain a lot of experience and improvement, but the junior high team went beyond expectation. The girls played surrounding schools and played no less than two games a night. The amount of wins and losses a team accumulates during the regular nights of play determined the seating they would receive for the final tournament.
The junior high Lady Pirates went into the tournament hopeful because up to that point they were undefeated. The girls were ready to play, and took first place for the junior high division. Coach Moore commented she is excited for the upcoming season in the fall and that the spring league was a direct reflection of the hard work they willingly put in on their own time.
