On Thursday, May 29, the Warren Warriors hosted their Athletic Banquet of the year. This event's purpose was to be a celebratory night to congratulate, and praise the hard work of the athletes, coaches, and all of their supporters. Each athlete of every sport was recognized by their coaches for their determination and dedication to the sport. Varsity athletes received a plaque with their name and the sports they played varsity in as a souvenir for their skill. This banquet also honored the senior athletes that will be leaving the Warrior and Lady Warrior teams. Football had a total of 17 seniors, cheerleading had three seniors, cross country had four seniors, volleyball had one senior, Warrior basketball had five seniors, Lady Warrior basketball had one senior, tennis had four seniors, golf had two seniors, track had seven seniors, powerlifting had three seniors, and baseball had four seniors. All of these senior athletes will be greatly missed along with their talent that they brought to each sport.
Warren athletics sends out a special thank you to the Booster Club, Board of Trustees, Warren ISD Administrators, and Warren High School Administration.The Booster Club graciously volunteers and this work is often under appreciated. The Booster Club provides many necessities to the athletes as well as scholarships. This year a scholarship in the amount of $1000 went to Brandon Choate. The Booster Club officers include the president, Aubyn Choate, vice president, Holly Weyler, treasurer, Doug Glosson, secretary, Brandi Moore, concession manager, Cindy Payne, and many other members. Mrs. Choate, the Booster Club president, presented a Flag of Warrior Nation on behalf of the Booster Club to Coach Babin. Coach Babin, Warren's newest athletic director, spoke on why he chose to come to Warren. "The vast majority of students are involved in sports, band, and ag," said Babin. Such ambitious students sparked the interest of Coach Babin.
The varsity Lady Warrior softball team were proud to earn a few all district picks. Autumn Sims received second team all district pitcher, Mollie Applewhite received all district honorable mention for second base, Savannah Gore received all district honorable mention for third base, Bergandie Conner received all district honorable mention for short stop, and Kiley Young received all district honorable mention for first base. The varsity baseball team also had several all district picks. Brandon Choate received Co-MVP of the year, Kelby Weyler received pitcher of the year, Cody Carden received all district first team for first base, Dylan Scherry received all district second team for pitcher, Tate Gore received all district second team for catcher, Justin Stewart received all district second team for second base, Hunter Jacobson received all district second team for third base, and Kyle Hathaway received all district honorable mention.
