Lady Jacket Softball
The Chester softball team may not have made the playoffs, but they are very well represented in the all district honors. They were ranked fifth overall with a 5-7 record. The Lady Jackets had great senior leadership which enabled the team to achieve more success than they have in several years. The following players were awarded All-District honors: senior Timber Wright was named utility player of the year; senior Kyrstin Jobe received first team utility player; and junior Destiny Kuehn was awarded first team short stop. Second team all-district pitcher went to freshman Donna Martin and second team utility player went to junior Laken Read. Honorable mention awards went to sophomore utility player Jaci Davis and senior first base Tyra Adair.
Chester Fishing Club
The Chester fishing club participated in the regional fishing tournament held on Lake Sam Rayburn May 17-18. Chester had three teams eligible for the tournament: the team of Keaton Whitworth and Cody Riley, Collin Pate, and Gator Thompson. There were a total of 170 teams that fished this tournament. These anglers had a five fish limit each day; the weights were then combined for a two day total. Collin Pate brought in 17.52 pounds to take 49th place. Keaton Whitworth and Cody Riley weighed in a total of 15.49 pounds for 57th place; and Gator Thompson had 12.02 pounds for 68th place. There were approximately 366 teams in the region. Whitworth and Riley took 28th place in the yearly standings; Pate took 275th and Thompson 249th. This is the first year for the fishing club and these anglers have had a very successful fishing season.
