The Lady Warrior softball teams fight to win

On Friday, April 4, the JV and varsity Lady Warriors played against Corrigan at home. The JV Lady Warriors made an excellent come back from being behind 6-0 to winning 10-6. The varsity Lady Warriors played a hard game as well, but were unable to defeat Corrigan.

The starters for the varsity Lady Warriors included Chelsea Gordon, Kiley King, Bergandie Conner, Mollie Applewhite, Savannah Gore, Brielle Johnson, Skylin Spurlock, Haleigh Moore, and Autumn Sims. The first two outs Warren made on defense were both bunts picked up and thrown to first base by Sims. The third out of the inning was fielded at third base and thrown to first by Gore. The Lady Warriors were unable to get any runners on base in the first inning. At the end of the first inning Warren was behind 1-0. Sims again picked up a bunt and threw it to first for an out. Gordon then caught back to back hits to center field which gave the Lady Warriors three outs. Johnson had a great hit which gave her a single. Faith Moore was Johnson's courtesy runner. Emily Cloud was walked and got on base. The Lady Warriors were unable to score. In the third inning, Applewhite, Sims, and Conner each got an out by fielding the ball and throwing it to first. The Lady Warriors were unable to score again this inning. Warren was behind 10-0. In the fourth inning Sims again got an out by fielding the ball and throwing it to first. Cloud caught a foul ball hit near third base. Gore fielded the ball at short stop and threw it to first for the final out.

Applewhite had a great hit to center field which gave her a single. Gore had an excellent bunt which advanced the runner and Gore was safe at first. Cloud hit to short stop and was safe, but the Lady Warriors were unable to score. In the fifth inning Corrigan received an out by a foul bunt on the third strike. Applewhite provided Warren with the other two outs by fielding the ball at second and throwing it to first. Although the Lady Warriors tried their best, Warren lost 13-0.
On Friday, April 4, the JV and varsity Warriors traveled to Woodville. The JV Warriors played a hard game, but lost. The varsity Warriors played an excellent game and defeated Woodville 11-6.

The varsity Warriors now have a well earned district record of 4-1.

The JV and varsity Lady Warriors will travel to Newton on Friday, April 11, and play their last home game of the season on Tuesday, April 15, against Hemphill. The JV and varsity Warriors will travel to Hemphill on Friday, April 11.
