Sunday, March 30, a high school fishing tournament was held where 340 teams participated.
Cory Hyden and Robbie Clark fished together to represent as a team for Spurger. Clark reeled in two keepers for the day, and Hyden caught three keepers. The boys kept their five best fish to bring to the weigh in. Their hard work paid off when they weighed in a total of 13.32 pounds. Of the 340 teams, Hyden and Clark won eighth place. They have practiced very hard to be successful, and this first year team has exceeded expectations. Because of their achievement at the tournament the boys came away with winnings of $230 to go towards their scholarship fund. Congratulations to their achievement and good luck in the tournaments to come.
The Pirate baseball and softball will be breaking out the bats again on April 4 and April 8. The baseball team will host Hull Daisetta in Spurger at 4:30 p.m. on April 4. Both baseball and softball will travel to Evadale on April 8 to play at 4:30 p.m. Be sure to come support your Spurger Pirates.
