The Yellowjackets had runners on first and second. Colten Martin singled to right field with a ground ball. Kuehn advanced to third and Whitworth advanced to second. Whitworth hit a ground ball to advance the runners. Martin doubled to center field, scoring Watts, Kuehn and Whitworth. Martin racked up three RBIs on three hits for Chester Yellowjackets. Kuehn got it done on the mound. He allowed four runs over six innings. Kuehn struck out eight, walked three, and gave up five hits. He got the win for Chester. The Yellowjackets also played in the Big Sandy tournament; unfortunately, they did not fare well against their opponents. The Yellowjackets lost to Apple Springs 13-7, Big Sandy 13-3 and Livingston junior varsity 13-3.

Lady Jacket Softball
The Lady Jacket softball team played in the Woodville tournament February 27-March 1. On Thursday the Lady Jackets played Groveton and Woodville. The Lady Jackets were up 3-1 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, when Groveton put a rally together to go up 5-3 as time expired. The Lady Jackets did not have their best outing when they faced the Woodville Lady Eagles. A few too many errors and too many walks led to an early lead for the Woodville Lady Eagles. As the errors, walks and good hits compiled against the Lady Jackets, so did the runs for the Lady Eagles. Woodville won 15-3. On Friday, the Lady Jackets faced Jasper then Burkeville for a regular season game.

The Lady Jackets hit the ball really well against the Jasper Lady Bulldogs. Kyrstin Jobe got a hit all three times she went to the plate. Kalee Thomson walked both times she went to bat and scored both times. The Lady Jackets took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Unfortunately, a leadoff double, a walk, and an over throw from third to first was all it took for the Jasper Lady Bulldogs to take the lead and hold off the Lady Jackets. Jasper won 6-5. The Lady Jackets gave the Burkeville Lady Mustangs their all. The Lady Jackets were ahead 20-6 at the end of the fourth inning, when the game was called due to darkness. This game will be completed when the Burkeville Lady Mustangs come to Chester for their second meeting later in the year. The highlights for the Lady Jackets so far in this game were Jobe with two triples, Timber Wright had three hits, all of which were triples, Donna Martin with three hits, and Thomson with two doubles and two walks.

Saturday, the Lady Jackets played well against the Diboll Lady Jacks, but unfortunately, the Diboll Lady Jacks did an excellent job executing bunts and moving their runners around. The Chester Lady Jackets did not field the bunted balls cleanly, which lead to more base runners. The Lady Jackets had plenty of base runners, but did not always get the hit they needed in key situations.

Destiny Kuehn reached base on all of her at bats in this game. Diboll won 7-3.
