Warriors and Lady Warriors compete in Evadale

The Lady Warriors and Warriors varsity teams participated in an Evadale tournament on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 5-7. The Warriors played one game on each day. The first day they played Evadale and lost. The second day, they played Spurger. They fought hard but could not come up with the win. Then on Saturday, they played their final game against Kirbyville and also lost. The team played well and worked hard showing great improvement each game.

On Thursday, December 5 the Lady Warriors played at 12 p.m. versus Evadale. The Lady Rebels took the early lead in the first quarter 15-6. The Lady Warriors continued to fight and ended the second quarter behind 24-16. Evadale managed to maintain the lead in the third and fourth quarters and won the game 45-31. Lauren Foster scored a total of eleven points for the Lady Warriors and Molly Applewhite scored eight points.

The Lady Warriors played again on Friday, December 6 at 3 p.m. against Spurger. The Lady Warriors scored the first points of the game and ended the first quarter tied at 6-6. The Lady Warriors took the lead and extended it. By the end of the first half Warren was ahead 18-12. In the third quarter the Lady Warriors remained in the lead and lead by seven points 27-20. The Lady Warriors continued to play excellent and won the game 41-30. Ashlynn Whisneant was the top scorer for the Lady Warriors with sixteen points, and Devan Barnett was close behind with twelve points.

Then on Saturday, December 7, the Lady Warriors played for consolation at noon against Silsbee. In the first quarter the Silsbee Lady Tigers took a quick lead. The Lady Warriors ended the first quarter behind 16-5. The Lady Warriors fought hard in the second quarter. Silsbee was only able to score three points against the Lady Warriors tough defense while Warren's offense scored seven points. The Lady Warriors were now only behind 19-12. In the third quarter Silsbee extended their lead 40-20. The Lady Warriors played their best, but were unable to defeat the Tigers and lost 52-35. Whisneant scored thirteen points and Applewhite scored eight points.

On Friday, December 13, the JV and varsity Lady Warriors will play Woodville at 5 p.m. This will be the Lady Warrior's first district home game. Then on Tuesday, December 17, the JV and varsity Lady Warriors will travel to Corrigan-Camden for a 5 p.m. game. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 12-14, the varsity Warriors will compete in the Colmesneil tournament and on Tuesday, December 17, the JV and varsity Warriors will also travel to Corrigan-Camden for their first district game.
