Lady Jacket Volleyball
After tying for second place in District 23-A and clinching playoff spots, Chester and Colmesneil met to determine the seeding of each team in the playoffs. Colmesneil edged out the Lady Jackets in three sets 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21. Both teams were very competitive and evenly matched. Outside hitters Timber Wright and Jaci Davis led the Lady Jackets at the service line, with Wright also leading the team in attacks. Setter Destiny Kuehn was also crucial to the Chester offense. Middle blockers Laken Read and Holli Handley and well as middle back Kyrstin Jobe added the defensive support for the Lady Jackets with Read leading the team in blocks and Handley and Jobe leading in digs.
Chester and Colmesneil will play a double-header on Tuesday night at Warren High School. Colmesneil will kick off the playoff double-header against Hull Daisetta at 6:00 p.m. Chester will take on West Hardin in the prime time slot with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.
The Lady Jacket cross-country team competed at the regional meet in Humble on Saturday, November 2. Destiny Kuehn Tyra Adair and Donna Martin ran the best times of the season. The team placed 19 out of 24 teams. It was the first time to compete at the regional meet for some of the runners. Senior Kyrstin Jobe has advanced to the regional meet all four years and sophomore Kalee Thomson has advanced for two years. Both of these young ladies have won a number of medals in their cross-country career. Jaci Davis and Kylee Thomson both have shown improvement throughout the season. This team of young ladies has placed in several meets this season and brought home several cross-country plaques. Great job ladies!
The Yellowjackets took on the Oakwood Panthers Friday, November 1 on the Panther's turf. The disadvantaged Yellowjackets were not able to capture a win. Try as they might, the Yellowjackets fell 69-6. Colten Martin led the team in tackles and Kris Kuehn ran a kick off back for the only Yellowjacket touchdown. The Yellowjackets will host the High Island Cardinals Friday, November 8.
Senior night activities will be pre-game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
